Average Keyword Cost Estimates in Florida & Potential Impact

Utilizing data sourced from Google Ads’ Keyword Planner tool, we can approximate the average cost per click associated with the primary keywords relevant to our unrelated search queries. Assuming the average cost per click as our reference point, we find that these unrelated searches incur a cost of $166 per click.

Furthermore, an examination of the average monthly search volume for the root keywords pertaining to these unrelated searches reveals a consistent monthly query volume.

Let’s consider a scenario in which, out of the 10 monthly searches conducted, our firms receive one irrelevant click. This translates to a potential annual expenditure of $1,992 on futile clicks (calculated as $166 per click multiplied by 1 click per month, and then multiplied by 12 months in a year).

For EACH occurrence of an unrelated search term triggering our firm’s ads, such as when a search for “Car Accident Lawyer Disbarred” activates our ads, and subsequently, another unrelated search term like “Accident Lawyer Convention” also triggers our ads, the potential annual squandered ad spend could reach $3,984 ($1,992 per year for an unrelated search term multiplied by 2).

It is important to note that while our reasoning relies on a series of fundamental assumptions, the unequivocal fact remains that our searches should not have triggered any ads whatsoever.

Significantly absent from this picture are the Florida-based firms engaged in pay-per-click campaigns targeting identical practice areas. Some of them have implemented either appropriate negative keywords (Option A) or adopted more precise and focused advertising strategies (Option B).

Mistargeted Google Ads Campaigns in Florida

Click on ony of the firms listed below to go to see the specific keywords used to trigger their ads.  In some instances we generated multiple  instances of the firms ads. All of the firms were called directly to inquire if the information was true.

For example if we triggered an ad for ” Land Dispute Lawyer Tampa”  as in the instance of Chamblen Injury Law’s ad,  of we called the firm to ensure that they did not handle Real Estate disputes. An easy way to understand if your marketing efforts are misaligned from your goals is to monitor your incoming calls & intake for patterns. An errant call or two is normal, repeated calls for practice areas you don’t want or serve can be an indication of a sloppy PPC campaign. 

If the search that generated the ads was for a different state or city ie. “Car Accident Lawyer Colorado”, the firm was also contacted to ensure that they are not licensed or practising in that external state.
