As we add additional instances, we may begin to delineate & identify whether certain geographic targeting is more or less prone to have irrelevant searches trigger a specific firm’s ad. This experiment is likely to generate additional questions for us, and as always exploring the unknown is half the fun. 

Average Keyword Cost Estimates in Delaware & Potential Impact

Leveraging data from Google Ads’ Keyword Planner, we can determine the average cost per click for primary keywords linked to irrelevant searches for Delaware law firms. When we use the average cost per click associated with these searches as a reference, the cost stands at a significant $84 per click for these Delaware-based legal entities.

The main keywords for these irrelevant queries also show a noteworthy average monthly search volume specifically for law firms in Delaware.

Let’s consider this scenario: out of 10 monthly searches targeting Delaware law firms, perhaps only one leads to an irrelevant click. With the math of ($84 per click × 1 click per month) × 12 months, this suggests that Delaware law firms could be unnecessarily spending $1,008 annually on non-targeted clicks.

If the search that generated the ads was for a different state or city ie. “Car Accident Lawyer Topeka”, the firm was also contacted to ensure that they are not licensed or practising in Kansas. In the case of Morris James, we cannot find any of the firm’s attorney listed on the Kansas Bar Website, and nor does it appear that DE & KS have any reciprocity.
